The most common reason a project like this stalls in finance is not the price. It is that nobody can forecast the bill.

Telonic is priced so your finance team can: you buy a usage package for each channel group you use, each quoted as one monthly figure that already includes the underlying technology. You pay for volume, not for features, and you know in advance what each quarter will cost for the volume you expect. This page explains how the packages work, what is billed when, and what is in your quote.

A package for each channel group

Channels are grouped by how conversations on them are counted.

Channel groupChannelsCounted by
VoiceInbound and outbound phone callsCall
MessagingWhatsApp, SMS and email, in one shared poolConversation
Web and appYour website widget, in-app conversations and voice in a browser or appSession

You choose a package for each channel group you use, sized to the volume you expect. A package is quoted as one monthly figure. The exact definitions of a call, a conversation and a session are set out in your agreement.

One figure that includes the technology

The monthly figure already includes the underlying technology costs: speech recognition, voice synthesis and the language models that run your deployment. There is no separate line for them on your invoice. The one provider charge passed through is Meta's charge for marketing templates, described below.

Every product capability is included at every package size. Your hosting option, a dedicated environment if you choose one, and Meta's charges for marketing templates are reflected in your quote.

On WhatsApp, utility templates (messages about something the customer already has, such as an instalment reminder) and service conversations are included in the messaging package. Meta's charges for marketing templates are passed through at cost. See WhatsApp: message templates and outbound messages for how templates are categorised.

The ceiling and the minimum

Each package has a ceiling: the monthly volume it is sized for. Each package also has a minimum, set at 75% of its ceiling. The minimum is billed quarterly in advance, so the first invoice of each quarter is known before the quarter starts.

Usage above the minimum, up to the package ceiling, is billed monthly in arrears at the same rate. If your volume goes above the ceiling, for example after a storm or during flight delays, the overage is billed in arrears at the same rate. It is never billed at a penalty rate.

One implementation fee

Implementation is charged as one implementation fee, agreed before you commit. It covers the work of preparing your deployment: understanding your processes, configuring the industry model for your business, connecting your systems and channels, testing, and training your team. See Implementation.

Starting small and growing

Deployments start with one channel in one department. When you extend to another channel or department, you add a package or change an existing one. Your agreement sets out how you can move between packages.

A worked example

A hotel group starts with reservations on voice and WhatsApp.

  1. It chooses a voice package for reservation calls, and a messaging package for WhatsApp, sized to the volumes it expects. Each is quoted as one monthly figure.
  2. Its quote also reflects its hosting option, the UAE region, and Meta's charges for the marketing templates it plans to send.
  3. At the start of the first quarter, it is invoiced for the minimum on each package for the quarter ahead, in advance.
  4. Voice usage comes in above the minimum and below the ceiling each month. Messaging usage goes above the ceiling in the third month, when a long weekend brings more enquiries.
  5. It is invoiced in arrears for usage above what it paid in advance, at the same rates, and for the marketing templates Meta charged for.
  6. Utility templates, such as booking confirmations, and service conversations were included in the messaging package, and appear on no separate line.

What you need for a quote

Tell us roughly how many calls, messaging conversations and web sessions you handle each month, and how long your calls typically last. We come back with one figure for each package and an annual figure you can take to your finance team.
