Customers who use Apple Pay can pay with it when your agents send them a payment link. Apple Pay is a digital wallet: it lets a customer pay with a card stored on their iPhone, iPad or Mac, confirmed with Face ID, Touch ID or their passcode. It appears as a payment option on the payment page of your payment provider, for customers whose device and browser support it. The agent works with your payment provider, such as Stripe, Network International or PayTabs, rather than connecting to Apple Pay directly.

What it means for your customers

ActionWhat it means for youExample
Pay from the link in the conversationA customer on a supported Apple device can pay in a couple of taps, without typing card detailsA guest opens a deposit link on WhatsApp and pays with Apple Pay on their iPhone
Confirm the paymentThe agent reads the payment status from your provider and confirms to the customer, whichever way they paid"Your deposit has been received. Your room is confirmed"
Follow up on payments dueReminders for instalments and balances carry a link, and each link offers Apple Pay where the device supports it. Configured during implementationA reminder for the balance of a tour, paid with Apple Pay from a Mac

The amount on every link is taken directly from your system record, not typed by the model.

How it works

The agent asks your payment provider to create a payment link and sends that link in the conversation. When the customer opens it, your provider's payment page offers Apple Pay alongside card payment, if Apple Pay is enabled on your provider account and the customer's device and browser support it. The customer confirms the payment with Apple Pay, and your provider processes it under its own terms.

The agent never sees or handles card details. Card data stays between the customer's wallet and your payment provider. Enabling Apple Pay is a setting on your payment provider account, and your provider guides you through any set-up Apple requires, such as registering the web address of the payment page.

Permissions

Permissions sit with the connection to your payment provider. Apple Pay needs nothing more from the agent.

In practice

Qamar Stays, a hotel group, takes deposits through its payment provider, with Apple Pay enabled.

  1. Hamza asks on WhatsApp to book two nights at the group's Dubai Marina hotel.
  2. The agent checks availability, confirms the rate from the reservation system and sends a deposit link from the group's payment provider.
  3. Hamza opens the link on his iPhone and pays with Apple Pay.
  4. The agent reads the payment status from the provider, confirms the booking and writes the payment reference to his reservation.
